Rhinoplasty Surgery Overview
Kyle S. Choe, MD Facial Plastic Surgeon, Virginia Beach, VA
Rhinoplasty may be desired for functional or cosmetic purposes.
Whatever the reason – Dr. Choe is a specialist. The technique he uses spares more of your own bone, cartilage and tissue than with the older techniques.
Nose Reshaping Overview
The ultimate goal of nose reshaping is to create a nose that looks natural and blends harmoniously with your other facial features – without losing your own ethnic characteristics. Dr. Choe uses a technique that allows for “preservation” of as much of your own bone and cartilage as possible. Let’s expand this selection and break it into three parts: Cosmetic contouring, Cosmetic Rejuvenation (aging nose), Functional (broken nose). Read more about Nose Reshaping.
Rhinoplasty Surgery
Rhinoplasty Surgery (nose job) is performed through excisions made at the base of the nose to allow better visibility to reshape the internal structures. Depending on what needs to be done, Dr. Choe may remove small wedges of skin, or work on cartilage and bone to alter the size and shape of your nose. The incisions and sutures are well hidden, and the skin is redraped over its new form. A splint is applied to the outside of the nose to help retain the new shape while the nose to heal.
Dr. Choe strives for balance and the most natural looking results possible – and often recommends a Chin Augmentation to enhance the rhinoplasty procedure while at The Choe Center for Facial Plastic Surgery in Virginia Beach, VA.
After Rhinoplasty Surgery
You can expect some swelling, bruising and discomfort for a few days. This can be easily managed with oral pain medication. Dr. Choe will ask you to limit your activities for the first 7 days after your surgery. Bruising varies from patient to patient – but is normally gone within 5-7 days.
Balance – and symmetry are one of the ultimate goals of Rhinoplasty. Often, having a nose job causes the chin to look either too big or too small.
Dr. Choe is “double” board certified surgeon (this puts him in a special group among surgeons) and, he has specialized in all aspects of cosmetic and reconstructive, nasal surgery.
